A resting dog lies low in the foreground, part of the grassy slope rather than a separate motif. At the right edge, a vertical tree trunk counters the diagonal fall of the ground. Lawn, foliage and sky settle into horizontal layers, with greens built as overlapping planes of light and shadow.
